UK-based Previs Artist, Animation Director & Animator with 25+ years’ experience across commercials, broadcast and VFX.

16 years at The Mill — 3D Lead, Shoot Supervisor and Animation Director — preceded by five years at the BBC animating TV idents and title sequences.

Now freelancing as a Previs Artist / Animation Director / Animator, working primarily in Maya and Unreal Engine (plus iphone or biro — whatever it takes to bring an idea to life).  I'm equally at home working with live-action or full-CG spots, plus I’m very hands-on — from liaising with clients, directors, and the whole team involved, to figuring out exactly how an idea should be shot, animated and brought together.

I’ve worked with global brands including Coca-Cola, Sony, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Dyson, McDonald’s, Unilever and Carlsberg, alongside many leading commercial directors and agencies. I’ve also directed seven international campaigns for Mattel, including 32 Barbie commercials, taking projects from concept and previs through to directing full crews on location in LA.

Ultimately, I love visual storytelling: composition, timing, performance, art direction - anything that brings an idea to life in a bold, stylish and dynamic way.  And of course, where appropriate, a healthy dose of fun and character.

I also have a strong background in photography, which plays a huge part in how I see and engage with the world.  From behind the lens I’m well known for goading people to do things FAR beyond their comfort zone.

When I’m not doing any of the above — or thinking about food — I make short films based on my childhood hero, Evel Knievel.  Check them out here.
