Freelance Animation Director, based in UK.

With a background in commercial illustration I dived into 3D animation in 1998, gaining a Masters Degree in Computer Animation.  I was then lucky enough to be talent-spotted by the BBC, where I worked as an animator for 5 years, thriving in an environment where I got to do everything: concept designs, storyboards, modeling, rigging, animating, lighting & rendering - not to mention collaborating with other designers and clients.  I quickly learned that in 3D you have to be a ‘Jack of all trades, and master of ONE’.  Animation was my chosen speciality - I LOVE breathing life into things - which I applied to a huge variety of work, spanning opening title sequences for the renowned ’Blue Peter’ TV show, to the launch of the BBC’s ‘CBBC’ channel, as well as the now legendary BBC 2 channel idents.

In 2004 I joined The Mill's prestigious 3D department and played a key role on projects such as 'Cloud Gods' for Mercedes, and Sony Playstation's 'A Day In The Life'.  I was also responsible for Coca-Cola's Skateboarding Tortoise - a campaign which ran on the world famous screen at London’s Piccadilly Circus.  As CG lead and on-set FX supervisor I've led projects for numerous Mill clients including Coca-Cola, Rolex, Carlsberg, O2, Dyson, Debenhams, Sky TV, Vodafone.  I've worked with high-profile directors and agencies around the world to bring ideas to life on screen, managing countless complex 3D requirements on location - from motion control studio shoots in London, to wrestling with live turtles on the beach in Thailand!

After self-shooting a few live-action projects - and after 10 years in The Mill’s 3D department - I made the natural transition to directing jobs for The Mill.  Equally at home directing live-action or full-CG spots, I'm very much a hands-on 'people' person, both with the team on the job and the cast involved.  Engaging storytelling is at the heart of everything for me, and my illustrative eye brings a clean, bold and vibrant style to any project I'm involved in.  Injecting a sense of fun and character - where applicable - is also crucial!

Recent creative highlights include directing the past seven international campaigns for Barbie (32 Spots), which I was also responsible for concept, previs, edit and design.

I live in Brighton with my partner Sophie and our two daughters.  I love adventure eating, and taking the family off in our campervan with Elvis and Dolly Parton playing FULL blast.
